New bike = pinch flats ?

Rode my old ht for over a year with 2.35 maxxi ignitors at 30 psi with bearly a puncture, never mind a pinch flat,
Since riding fs on a Giant trance X4 with 2.1 kenda nevegal's, still about 30/33 psi ive had 4 pinch flats in 4 rides, all on fast rocky downhills (3 on jacobs ladder in one run)
Are the kenda's not suitable for dark /white peak stuff ? or too thin ? or should i just run more pressure than a ht to account for a bit extra weight.

More pressure I'd think.
May be to thin too - beef up the tyre and tube - afterall it's DH0 -
It just needs more pressure on 2.1s. Agricultural tubes probably won't help.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

Schwalbe normal presta tubes are superb.
If you're running 2.1" tyres go for 35psi min on the back.
What rims are you running on the Anthem and what ris were you running on your HT? narrower rims will pinch flat easier at lower pressures than wider rims.
The weight of the bike has nothing to do with it - especially when you consider an Anthem isn't exactly heavy, it's the volume of the tyre and the width of the rim.
I run around 40psi in my 2.1" racing raplhs on my FS when it gets rocky. When using 2.25" tyres I run in the region of 32--34psi0 -
maybe the new bike just allows you to ride harder without you feeling it? try a bit more pressure maybe? or go tubeless?0
-
also have you checked the inside of the rim for debris or check rim tape is on correctly?0

think it is the current WMB where they have a test of the Giant Reign at Fort Bill and they slated the Nevegals for that exact reason, that they were too thin for rocky downhill work.Whether you're a king or a little street sweeper, sooner or later you'll dance with the reaper.

You need to pump them up and consider some beefier tyres. Pretty much what everyone else said. It's especially important if you're riding really rocky runs. All that banging around on the rocks is hard work for low volume tyres. Many happy trails!0

1 ride, 1 pinch. what is the best all round tyre then ?? clearly its not the nevegals0 -
i got my new hardtail in february...
running joke was that I could hardly get 100 yards without a pinch flat....
changed the tires form the poor Conti MK's to the old pana fire xc pros....not had one since.
Watch how you go with the pressure though....I reckon anything above 40 and it starts pinging off stuff too much to keep control of the back end.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.
