Howdy. I'm new to MTB'in, and looking for somewhere to learn a few skills. A friend suggested the Skills Loop at Sherwood Pines. Does anyone know if it's any good, and worth the drive?

Cheers.

Dunno as I've only ever been there once whilst staying at Center Parcs, but the Red route I did was a good XC course.

Assuming you can get there in <1hr, get over there and give it a a look.

They were still building the bike park at Sherwood Pines when I least went so I only rode a bit of it (I guess that's the one you mean, the other trails are a bit flat and straightforward).

There were lots of jumps and some drops there so if that's the sort of thing you want to do then it's probably quite good. They were building the wall ride at the time but it was nearly finished, not sure what's beyond that.

The bike park was full of kids on BMXs when we went.

Near the bike park there's a few other runs which looked wuite good but we didn't do them as well as the usual off piste humpy sections that people go and play on.

You had to pay for trail maps when we went.
