Hi this is my first post and i'm new to mtb'ing.
I was setting up my bike saddle when i noticed my saddle is as far back on the post as can be is this ok.
I done some research and up came layback posts would I be better of with one of those or is it ok to have the saddle as far back as it can go.

Hello and welcome.
It depends on a few variables like your bike geometry, your size and weight and your riding style/discipline.
If you are a fatty or like to jump or DH then you may be putting too much stress on the rails/post mounting; It could fail and make a MTB'r Kebab out of you
As long as the saddle is within the min/max settings of the rail (should be marked) then that's fine.
If you are a really light rider and only pootle around your local woods I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are really tall and struggle with bke sizes then a layback post may be better.
A longer stem may be a better option.0 -
Thanks weescott.
I'm actually inbetween 2 bike sizes small and medium so opted for small since i'm a novice. I'm 5' 6" and 11 stone and going for xc and the odd trip to glentress.0
