Peak District - Where to stay?!
Hey guys,
i have Thursday through Sunday off and fancy going to the peak district.
Anyone know a good town/village/place to stay with riding in mind? Just want to get out and do some miles enjoying the view and relax!
Thanks a lot guys

We stayed here the last time http://www.poachersarms.co.uk/ - lovely people, REALLY good breakfast and nice rooms. Fab pub food in the evenings too.
We would happily stay there againLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

Hope gets my vote - great access to trails straight out your door - although most places in the Peaks will allow this - thats the beauty0

had to go with the YHA in the end as nowhere seemed to want me. Hopefully that will be ok!
Gonna do Jacobs ladder and Doctors Gate off this site:

Jacob Ladder yes a real classic
Doctors gate and cutgate is a big ride.We do cutgate all the time but linking it with Doctors gate means a 5 or 6 mile trudge down the A57 which can be lethal.(Think loads of Lorries and hyperbikes using it as a race-track )Then a slog up the Trans-pennine trail .40 odd miles with only probably half that amount "fun-stuff".Do it if it's one of those "once in a life time things"
Off that list I'd rather do the Hope triple8 than Doctors gate, but I'd cherry pick the best bits(and bits not on that site)being local to the area0 -
I tried to ride UP Jacobs Ladder - not a sucessful attempt :?Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....

Chapell le Frith is good as are the other suggestions. I have stayed in Sheffield before, just 45min drive, on a cheap Aston hotel weekend break. Also stayed in Buxton, converted farm buildings nr Chatsworth.
End Oct will be in Alfreton0
