I'm after a backpack that will be good for on rides(hydration etc) but that will also cater to my needs for sixth form/college!

Ideally something not too bulky but will be capable of carrying a few books etc and cycling gear simultaneously

Thanks in advance

Bit of a tough one that.
How far you ride will dictate what size pack you use and this may not be enough for your school gear.
I think the best solution would be 2 packs, can get a cheap hydration 6L from tesco £11
and a £20 messenger for school.

I know it's a toughy, thanks for the reply! I usually ride 20-40 miles maybe more. On a ride I may carry two extra water bottles, keys, food and medical kit. Thinking about it college is only 4-5 miles so the backpack only needs to be big enough for a few books OR stuff for my ride(mentioned above)

Well, probably around 40 quid but if you've got any recommendations over then fire away and I'll see if i can find it cheaper!

OK you could look at these, again what you go for depends on what storage you need.
Probably 10-20 litre packs with 2-3 litre hydration.

Cheers for the links pal! Any idea of the size of the Mule?

The mule is 11.5 litre capacity with a 3 litre bladder, haven`t seen one in the flesh
so not sure if big enough, but they get a good rating. You could always take the bladder out when not riding.
A quick visit to your local bike shop will give you an idea of the best size for your needs.
    Happy hunting.

I've had one of these for years and it has served me well. Has room for a hydration pack, a padded laptop section and more pockets than you can shake a stick at.

    Top notch :D
If it aint broke, dont fix it. Wait, there's 1 exception...unless it can be pimped up in anyway.
