    in no order.
    Original Hope Mini
    Original Hope M4
    Hope Mono M4
    Avid Juicy 7
    Avid Juicy Carbon
    Avid Code ( first version)
    Formula Oro K24
    Formula Oro K24 2009
    Formula The One (first version)
    Diatec Anchors
    Diatec Sports
Shimano XT (a mix of old lever assy and new caliper)

then i have tested most of the rest.

    brakes that i dont like.

    Hayes.

    Favorite brakes.

Formula from when they brought in the Oro before that they were a bit too Italian.

    most pointless Upgrade.

    steel braided hoses.

Hope M4's front and rear, 180f 160r floating disc with standard pads.

more than enough stopping power and once i had fitted them have needed no adjustment or maintenance since (on my old bike and then on the new one). Just pop out the old pads when they're worn out, pop in the new, rinse and repeat.

The only complaint i have is they can be stupendously noisey, for no apparent reason
MTB's, SC Blur LTc & Cotic Soul (26" definitely aint dead!).
    Other, Genesis Croix De Fer

I'm using Shimano SLX brakes on one bike, my commuter. Don't intend on changing them.

Avid Code 5 2009 on my DH bike, 220mm rotors front and rear. Don't intend on changing them.

Saint brakes on my AM bike, 203mm rotors front and rear. Don't intend on changing them.

Currently have Elixir CR (in white) on the front and Juicy 5 (also white) out back. 185 mm rotors on both. Have no desire to change them.

XT s front and rear, 180 front disk, sintered or organic depending on weather. I don't like them, to much free stroke travel and they are set on minimum. Wouldn't recommend them,
    Will get Formulas one day.

I have Hope X2 with 183mm floating rotors front and rear.

Love them, the look is a bit Marmite, bit chunky and silver, they do stand out a bit. Also not the lightest.

But they feel like they are made out of old tanks and will probably out last me. I also love the adjustability of the lever. You can move the lever as close or as far from the bar as you like and also adjust the 'bite point'

Why do you like moving air if its not doing anything?

Shimano XT 160/160 on the Anthem - standard everything atm and happy with them but may try different pads when this set are shot.

Avid Elixir R 160/160 on the road/commuter bike (yes its got disc brakes :) ). Bit squeaky and occasional sticking piston problems, but nothing serious and more than enough for commuting.

  • elixir Rs on the pig (185mm+185mm) standard hoses, superstar sintered pads, really good, powerful, reliable, do require a fair bit of frequent adjustment

have run tektro aigura comps 2008s, with sintered pads, (203mm, 160mm F+R)really good once bedded in however a nightmare to bleed and fix, hence ending up with elixirs.

Hope Mono Mini on the Rock Lobster, 180/160. Ok for XC hardtail duties but not really enough power, decent modulation.

Shimmy XT`s on the Meta 5, 180/160. Bit of a faff to set up but once they are they have awesome stopping power and bite really hard, could probably use a bit more modulation.

I prefer the XT`s as i can stop on a sixpence with them despite them being on a (much) heavier bike, I can`t with the Hopes.
  • got a few years old now Giant Terrago Disk, so still on the stock MPH3 brakes, which are 160 as far as i'm aware.

they do require more fettling that i'd like but in terms of stopping, they may be cheap but effective.

    vees on my trek 4700

avid 3's on my wifes rockhopper
  • Hope mono m4's on mine.
183mm both ends. Fantastic feel and modulation, and big on the power as well. Bit noisy in the wet though.

Had juicy 3's before, nothing amazing but did the job.
