After 5 years of owning the same car having bought it on finance, the final payment has just left my account so I can now sell the bugger :D:D Only problem is is that they took a double payment as a closing fee so i'm now skint. I'm never going down the car finance route again and never buying french again.

IIRC, you could have handed it back to the finance company after 2 and half years without parting with any more money.

I don't have the smarts to think of things like that. Ah well it's done now can get shot and get a smaller engine car.

I'll be honest, it's not something that the finance companies like to publicise. It's useful having a family member in the motor trade...

Amen to that. We bought two brand new Renaults before we had our first kid intending to keep them till they fell apart which we did. We just anticipated they'd last more than 3 years

Our Honda CRV is now 4 years old, never gone wrong and is still actually worth something (unlike either of the Renaults which depreciated instantly).
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
