Turbo trainer advice

I'm new on here and this is my first post. I am the proud owner of a 2009 Trek 1.5 tripple after riding round on a 16 year old mountain bike is a bit scary.
I also have a Tranz x turbo trainer and i have a question. I would like to use the trainer each morning to build up a bit of pedaling technique and fitness as we go into winter but i also want to cycle to work. To use the trainer i need to use the skewer provided. My question is should i swap this with the Trek skewer permanently or swap after each use?
Thanks
