Hey guys, got my new bike a few weeks ago, and have finally had a bit of cash thanks to my wife giving me my Birthday dosh a bit early.

Bought myself some bontrager carbon low rise bars, specialised lock on grips, some new bar ends and a nice comfy new bontrager seat.

Pics of bars, seat and full bike below. Also was treated to a nice Sigma heart rate monitor, so right now I am quite a happy man!

There's a link to my picassa album, shows a few pictures of me and my main riding buddies and the last pictures are updated pictures of my bike.

Very smart looking bike there MM, has your front brake hose fallen out with the fork?

Can you buy those Schwalb tyres in shops with the white strip or are those OEM?
  • I genuinely don't understand why the front brake was run through that way, but hey, it's working so i'm not complaining.
I'm pretty sure you can't get them with the white stripe. Had a looksee on a few sites here in Austria and none of them say anything about white stripes for the nobby nics, or racing ralphs which is on the rear.

Speaking of that, does anyone think I would be better popping the nobby nic on the back and racing raplh on the front, it seems smarter to me to based off the tread pattern and deepness of the nobby nic, but not completely sure. Any recommendations?

Next up to come is a new carbon seatpost, probably a new stem with more rise to it, and probably some new wheels eventually.

Nice bike, welcome to the Cube club!

Not sure about the bar ends though...

Yes you can get the Schwalbe tyres with the white stripes, they're available from Cube, ask your local dealer.

Nic up front, Ralph out back is the best way to run those tyres

  • Sweet thanks for the tips Andy B, the bar ends are only some cheap ones I had on my old bike before handing it down to my wife when I bought this one. Will be getting some blingy carbon ones soon, but didn't want to spend the 60 euros for some nice ones just yet as I had a pair sitting around already.

Had no idea you could get the tires from Cube, i'm not sure i'm liking the white stribpes or not. Maybe a bit too bright for my liking, I normally like a bit blacker styles.

Glad to help with the tyres, I'm also in 2 minds about them, but they do grow on you after a while.

As for the bar ends, I'm not a fan of them on riser bars, but if they're comfy & work for you, that's what matters.

Oh, here's a pic of my Cube in action: 4805815421_c4807620aa_z.jpg

  • Nice action shot you've got going there, me and my riding buddies are always too busy to take pictures of the uphill donwhill bits, only at the top of the mountains when we get there. I may ask them to get some climbing pictures of me since their waiting for me anyways, and wouldn't take work to get the camera out and watch my slow self comin up the hill. :)

Jesus you have got a sexy red cube! I wish my shop had had the cube in red, would have loved that one!
  • Well since having some brake woes I went out and bought myself a nice SLX rear brake set up for myself today, as well as a shiny Hope seatclamp.

I've also included some pics of the ride I had this morning, before I had a chance to get the hope seat clamp on. Next up on the list is a few more bling parts and the front brake for the SLX, and probably more bling. Then after that, more bling.

And yes, I agree, it does look weird with one white master cylinder and one black, but the whites getting replaced soon.

I quite like it with different colours, symmetry sucks 8)
  • What other color do people think would work well? Does anyone think maybe some gold? I was thinking it as well, but sure how it would look.
  • Alright everyone just a small update on the bike, since I know every is "dying" to hear about it :) Added a few new parts to it over the past month or so:

Switched out ugly non blingy stem for a Easton EA90 stem, much better looking, a bit shorter than the 110mm which was on there so felt a small difference to the ride.

Also gotten superstar white grips with blue lock rings, nice and blingy.

Also, thanks to a extremely generous donation from a forum member on here, I got a set of carbon bar ends made by PZ racing. Gave me faith in the world that people generously give away nice things!

As well as swapping out my old seat for a much comfier and lighter Specialized one, has made a world of difference to the comfort of the bike on long periods.
Anyways, updated photo after my cleaning today as when I got home the other day my bike was absolutely caked in mud from a rain ride.

Bar ends look a bit too upright, should match the angle of the stem for best effect. Looks good otherwise!
  • They are a little upright compared to the stem, but that's how I like them. I find them much more comfortable that way, but i'm an odd one haha!
