    You'd perhaps be better off posting this in the Mountain Bike Forum, not road.

    But, only accessories you need for mtb; helmet, gloves, glasses and depending on where and when you ride, lights, lock, computer....no need for a compass unless you're going "walkabout" with just an OS map.

    just get yourself set up with gloves and a helmet and buy things as and when you find a need for them...

    ..you probably want those streamers on your handle bar grips too - the only reason roadies don't use them is because of the weight....
