Where can I find an OS map?

A simple question it may seem.
My predicament however, is that I've just dropped the car into the garage for the day, I'd like to find this map today (local area), and I live in the middle of nowhere. That's not the nice middle of nowhere though, with jolly ramblers ramblers passing by and OS maps sold on every corner. The only guaranteed buy on every corner here is a bag of smack.
So, since I don't want to clock up 40 miles on the bike looking for one - an OS map, not a bag of smack. Where's the best place to start? Newsagents? Post Office? I've tried the super market and service station already..

Petrol Stations are usually a good hiding place for OS maps....the bigger the better.....especially if it has a rest area.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Book shops in your local area. Give them a call and check if they have it in stock. Bigger bike shops (Evans etc) sometimes stock them too.http://www.georgesfoundation.org

People don't read books around here, so no book shops. Petrol station's ticked off the list, and bing maps is a possibilities, but they don't seem very detailed.0

Sweet, I'll have a play around on that. I did try it yesterday, but the maps wouldn't load up. Seems to be working now.
The real thing would still be nice mind.0 -

Doesn't appear to show the rights of way, or anything other than roads, unfortunately.LeighM wrote:I've had loads of problems with Bikehike.co.uk and IE. works perfectly with Safari though.
Opened it in Opera at first. No worky. Tried Firefox and still no worky. All's fine now, just an API issue I guess.0 -
OS Get-a-Map lets you view a 2km square area at 1:25 000 scale with rights of way. And you can move the viewpoint but you can't print it out.

The multimap website shows full map detail in 1:25 000 (you can zoom in too to make the picture larger) and you can print it. Just click on Ordnance Survey and find your way.
If you want to buy one go to www.dash4it.com, all the maps and 25% cheaper than shops. Many happy trails!0 -
Bing is all you need. zoom in a bit, and it wil let you use the OS maps view. Then you can zoom right in, and it switches detail scale automatically.0
