New Wheels

Hi,
I have a Carrera Kraken. Its about 2 or 3 years old. I don't have room for another bike. I want to use the Kraken for an 8 mile commute as well as off road trails etc. So i want to get another set of wheels and put some semi-slick tyres on for improved road performance.
I just want to make sure i understand part compatability and everything i need to buy...
Bike currently has 27sp SRAM gearing (X-gen front, X-7 rear).
If i buy a set of wheels (these for example http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=52990) i need a 9 speed cassette (such as this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=5045), tyres and tubes. Do i need anything else? any special tools?
Whats the difference between a freewheel and a cassette?
apologies for the simpleton q's.

You don't need anything else, but if the chain and cassette are worn the new one might not run smoothly, it might skip so much that it's unusable.
Also, if you're just using it on the road, get slicks. Not semi slicks.
You'll need a cassette lockring tool to fit the cassette to the wheel.
Have a look on sheldon brown's website for freehub/freewheel info.0 -
well i got the tyres (michelin country rock) and put them on my current rims.
all i can say is WOW. Grip a-plenty!
Will get a new set of wheels very soon.0
