Non-charity London to Paris ride

Can anyone recommend an affordable London to Paris bike ride that doesn't require loads of fundraising? I'm looking to do one next year (my first big ride), but don't have the time or inclination to do a big charity thing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Not sure what you want if you don't have the time or inclination for a charity ride? Do you think non-charity rides are quicker & take less effort??0

Personnel this money grubbing attitude that "charities" have offends me. I'll do what I can for causes that mean something to me. But this cynical grab for the contents of someones pockets because they have abducted and try to rape a passion that others have is sickening.
Oh if you don't like that sentiment, go scr*w yourself...
But the though of riding London/Paris or whatever does appeal to me and if I could do that with other like minded people all the better all the better.
How 'bout we organise something ourselves?0 -
Petre - that's obviously not what I mean. The focus and the point of me wanting to do this is to train for and complete an enjoyable and challenging ride - not to spend my time fundraising from friends and family who already get loads of justgiving requests.
I wouldn't mind doing it indepently, but am in the process of buying a bike to do this and had decided on a road bike (after dithering over getting hybrids, tourers etc). Not sure I want to saddle up with all my stuff on my first challenging ride - I'd heard that they bring all your stuff for you.0 -
This one - http://www.londres-paris.com/site/html/home/index.php - isn't run by a charity although I think the company do support various charities.
And this one - http://www.discoveradventure.com/challenge.aspx?t=32 - allows you to just pay for your place rather than raise money for a charity.0 -
You just missed one in june organised by a few of us off hereBianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

That's a really pleasant attitude - fair enough if you don't feel the organsised charity rides give enough to the charities involved but this just comes across as seriously nasty. You;d better hope you never have to take advantage of what charities offer..0 -

Niiiice. And in English ?
I'd really only have a problem with me asking for sponsorship for something I enjoy doing. Basically my sponsors are subsidising my holiday to France. Cant blame the charities for raising money though - they're hardly forcing you at gunpoint to donate are they ?0
