Numb hand

Not sure if this post is in the right place but ...

My left hand is going numb. Bike fit seems good everywhere else - no back pain etc and I feel comfortable, but no matter where I place it on the bars, it eventually goes dead.

It's either a pressure point thing in the hand or it has to be an element of fit, causing too much pressure on the hand, which might suggest handlebars too low.

Any suggestions/solutions are most welcome.

Are you left handed? The reason I ask is I have had the same thing in my right hand and I know it has been when I've been holding too hard. Usually a quick shuffle in the saddle relocation of body position helps. I was also putting too much weight on the handlebars so I ended up shifting thte saddle forward a fraction and it made a big difference.

    No, right handed.

I will give the saddle position a go though and see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks for the suggestion

I find gloves with gel pads good. One of my neighbours also has gel pads fitted under the tape on his bars.

I also find a bigger tyre at the front which can be run at lower pressure more comfortable on long rides on rougher roads.

i have the same numbness in my left hand even using gel filled gloves. I get the pins and needles in my left foot too!

    Thanks Erudin,

Never seen those before but I will be ordering some up pronto.

I think my gloves could do with an upgrade too.

I'm nervous about fiddling about with my position on the bike because apart from the numb hand everything feels fine.

Nice idea. But a BJ off the missus is still preferable. :D
