CX Brakes?

I will open this in saying I do not believe the comments that decent braking on a CX bike 'is for *****' or that 'you should not use your brakes.
I think having the best braking performance can only help. My current ones are rubbish, any recommendations to some great 'stoppers'

Avid Ultimates are the dog's dinglies according to a mate - might look to upgrade my TRPs shortly. Pad choice is important too - probably look at some Swiss Stop greens.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I should also have said Avid BB-7 discs - but only if you have a frame+forks to take discs - they are a degree of magnitude better than any cantilever - they are very easy to set up and don't clog with mud. Downside is that they're a bit porky.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
