Has anyone else...dropped their MP3 player...down the bog?
Luckily, it was PRE-wee wee, so just water.
Yanked it out - the PLAYER, that is - by the headphone cables.
Doesn't work now. Will it dry out?

It might. Stick it in the airing cupboard, or by the radiator. And leave it for days. Don't attempt to turn it on before then. If it was off at the time, you'll have a good chance at saving it. If not, less so..0

Mine went through the washing machine, we tried drying it out etc but nothing worked, my friend dropped his in a puddle and it was fine though0

All our staff put their phones in the sauna after they've ended up in the pool, the majority of them switch back on and work. Get to your local leisure centre for a couple of hours lol. Think it might of worked on the walkie talkies too.0

Depends on how long it's been in there for.
I dropped my phone in the toilet once, again pre piss, whipped my hand straight in and grabbed it, left it on a radiator for a day and a bit and thankfully at work. The trick is not getting it submerged for too long.
Gadget show did a thing on it this week, if it was in for less than a minute you could be in luck.
I once took an ipod into the sea by mistake, thankfully it was only my shuffle, i had it for such occasions and it never came back to life.0 -
OK, it was ON, was in the water for a second, turned it off, then on again.
Then all the tracks flashed thro at a million miles per hour, then nothing at all.
Was a birthday present from one of my sons in May, and he looked long and hard for it.
Had some great music on it, which I can reload into a new one, but I feel really guilty.
He tried to fix it/get it to work, but nothing so far.
The headphons are ok, and they are so good that when I use them on my other MP3 player, even when the MP3's volume is on Zero, they still give a good sound. Weird!0 -
The Gadget Show stuck the phone under a 100w table lamp overnight and also used a Dyson to suck the fine droplets out which had success. I'm guessing that you can't take the MP3 player apart like you can with a phone and battery?I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Best thing to do is take the battery out as quickly as you can, then take it apart as much as you dare and dry it out on a radiator.0

My Motorola V220 was in the pocket of my waterproof (very waterproof, almost rubber) jacket which filled up with water. It was turned on and submerged for about an hour. Opened it up, took the battery out and left it on the radiator for a couple of days. It worked perfectly afterwards (and still does although the battery's getting a bit crap now).0

i was commuting to work ont push bike, this included a small section on the canal, annoyingly a gated part.
So instead of lifting the bike over the gate or using the official bit a modern mountainbike wont fit through I grab the top tube and swing around the gate (ive done this hundreds of times) over the water.
I put the bike on the ground, swing round myself......and the whole world slowed down as the headphone lead got caught on the gate, yanked my ipod classic out of my pocket and splooosh! gone!
It was feburary so i wasnt going in, plus the water is the same colour as coffee so it was impossible to see.
silver lining the GF at the time bought me a 120gig classic to replace it.

My sons back from one of those "Com" thingys where they all dress as characters, so I'll get him to techy it out for me when he gets back.0 -
I have read on computer-y forums that it's a good idea to wash the wet electronics in distilled water before allowing to dry.
The point is that water based malfunctions are caused by the residues that are left over once the circuit board has dried and washing it in 'clean' water is your best chance of getting the contamination out.0
