seen a particular model of samsung phone thats hard to get hold of in the UK , on sale on ebay from a store in hong kong.
the seller has kosher status and the product is sold as new in original box.
would really like to buy this item but just concerned about hong kong being the centre of counterfit electronic goods
is it worth a punt or stay clear ?

i've bought some bike stuff from hong kong and it's turned out to be all good. i also bought one of those small DV cameras from hong kong and that was fine aswell :D

i suppose it all depends on how much the thing is, all the stuff i've bought has been less than £20 so it wouldn't be too much of a loss if it was crap

    Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a sh!tty stick.

There's way too much scope to get scammed (counterfeit or stolen & locked in HK etc)

fair do's , but wouldn't ebay kick him off their site if there were compliants against him for dodgy goods ?

There's ways and means of dodging the long arm of ebay, especially if you're selling high value items, with high final value fees

I know of an ebayer who fleeced £1800-odd from guys on a car forum (£1800 that we knew about), kept all their cash, kept his ebay account up and running and then came back onto the forum to taunt the people he fleeced.

Nobody could do a thing about it, not even through paypal.

Link you PayPal account to a credit card and use that, any problems go direct to your credit card company. They'll usually refund your money and sort it out with PayPal or probably just write it off but at least you'll get your money back if you're ripped off.

I got ripped of for some dodgy PC games, PayPal said tough CC company sorted it in 24 hours!!
