Building up a frame

So I'm thinking that i might jump on the bandwagon and get my self a ragley mmmbop, but i have some questions about compatability of moving my components on my current bike (gt avalanche) to the new frame.
1) I know i need a reducer headset to fit the forks, i'll probz go for the superstar one unless anybody has and recommendations.
2) I am planning on getting a new chainset but can't afford it yet so i was thinking i'll just buy a cheap BB and put my cranks on. I know the BB shell on the mmmbop is 68mm but i don't know what axle length i need. Will it be the same as on my current bike? How do i measure this?
I was thinking something like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17473
3) I've just realised that you can get different rear wheel widths and was wondering if frames had specific widths and whether this would be a problem if i had the wrong width?
Sorry about my noobiness (first time building a bike). Thanks in advance

get measuring and see what fits.
re the BB see what the current length of axle you have and get the same.
wheels should be fine.
seatpost/clamp/front mech and fork tend to be issues."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok cheers.
I've measured most of it up. I will need a new seatpost and clamp
I'm just waiting for halfords to tell me whether they have a crank puller in stock so i can measure the BB.0 -
So i've just taken my cranks of the bike and measured the BB axle with the vernier callipers
These are telling me that i have a 119.5mm axle length. I can't see any BB with this axle length.
Do i just get the closest length to what i have? If so do i go for more length or less? Or maybe i'm just being a dumbass
