Creaking Bottom Bracket

I have a "Race Face X Type" bottom bracket on the Crush.
After a recent ride i noticed that the crankset was slightly loose ( ), so I tightened it back up and now the bottom bracket creaks. I'm assuming that this is down to me riding with the loose crankset.
Now, do I take it into my LBS (The Edge - Chester) and let them have a look at it, have a go at a repair myself, or just put up with it?
The replacement bottom bracket bearings are on CRC for £6 each so not too dear, but i have no idea how to remove the bottom bracket (it looks like you need a special tool to remove it).
Need to keep the repair cost to a minimum - help!

Excuse me? :?
Should have said, you're dealing with an idiot.
I tightened the crankset with an allen key just so it was hand tight, i wouldn't say i'd overtightened anything.0 -
It's a Race Face Ride XC X Type crankset by the way.0

My mistake, I thought they fit on like Hollowtech cranks do.
Are you definitely sure it's the BB that's creaking? Could just be coincidence that it started when you tightened the cranks up.0 -
I'm not definately sure but what else could it be?0

Anything :P Usually something simple like the seatpost needs greasing.

I have the same cranks and they creak.
Its just something that happens because of the interface with RF cranks I think0 -
might be the actually BB is loose. this is what it turned out to be on mine, so i just stuck the tool on and tightened it up0
