Reba Race v SID Race

After much deliberating I'm pretty much down to a choice between these 2 from On-one.

Going for the 100mm travel (as advised by sonic - cheers) and both have Pushloc. I also want black, as my bike is black.

Couple of questions before I part with quite a lot of cash:
Is Pushloc the handlebar mount thing? Can this be removed or would I not want to?
I've seen a few threads saying get in touch with on-one first to make sure it is what they say it is but I know so little about forks I don't know what I'm supposed to be asking!!
The Reba has BB technology but the SID is lighter and seems better value overall.

These are the options:

http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FORSREBRDA/ ... nd-pushloc

http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FORSSIDRD10 ... 100mm-fork

They are for a 2010 Rockhopper and XC and general trail use, small jumps etc. Nothing too heavy.
Any advice (again) would be appreciated from the experts.
Want to purchase today really, it's payday!

Cheers,

Dave.

Yes but to lock out you will need to put a friction stack in.

Sid is a full on XC fork - I would even want to do 1 foot drops regualy with it

Go for a Reba. Make sure the steerer tube is the correct length - if too long pick up some spacers too so you can fit it right away, then THINK about how much you want to cut the steerer tube by if thinking about a new frame in the future....

The Reba is only 0.3 lbs hevaier, but the damper is better.

    OK.
I have spoken to on-one becuase the pricing didn't seem to add up.

Apparently, The Reba Race is OE un-boxed, some of them have cut steerers, some do not.

The SID Race is brand new, RS packaged, uncut and comes with a shock pump.

Does this make it a no-brainer?
    I'm thinking go with SID.

Does my logic make sense (even if on-one's pricing doesn't!)

    Cheers,

    Dave.

Yes but what are those prices.

The steerer tube is the main one - does it fit and is it futurish proof.

Who cares about packaging? My opinion is OE is better for the evnironment...

A shock pump is ~20 quid....

If you must go as light as you can, then the SID, but the RS Reba Team gets ther Black Box damper which adds more control over multiple hits.

EDIT: It is the Race you linked tyo not team, doh! Dampers are the same. But is very expensive for that model.

    Take a look at this:

    Cheaper, and better!

    Cheers Sonic.

I was looking through the Merlin ones yesterday and thought they had sold out of Rebas.
Having looked at so many, I thought they only had white ones left. Thanks for this.
Out with the wallet I think!

I have just tried to ring them but they close at 1630!

Should I wait and ring them to see if they have been cut down or anything?

My finger is hovering over the BUY button!!

They are new and uncut as far as I know. They usually state if they aren't.

Great buy, plus you get a further 10% off!

Unless your a racer go for the reba, it'll stronger and not alot heavier, so for small jumps and general trail riding go for the reba.

I thought the SID used the same lowers and had the same diameter stanchions(32mm) as the Rebas these days?

Arent the criticisms based on the old pre-2008 versions with the 28mm stanchions?

The Sid are lighter but from what I can tell that is mainly due to the shorter stanchions and tubes that dont allow more than 100mm travel - hence the recessed valves at the bottom.

All the reviews of post-2008 Sids say that the problems are cured and they are very rigid.

I hope so anyway because I just bought some Sid Teams for £299 from on-one. Should I send them back?

Strangely the main reason why I went for them over the Rebas was because they dont have the poploc - I dont want anything extra on the bars, or the extra cable and it is not as adjustable as the crown lockout. I couldnt find a reba online without poploc and this seemed like a steal for the Sid team with BB Motion control etc.

Slight concern now is that I am 17stone. Dont do jumps - mainly XC but go to Swinley from time to time.

Should I return the Sids if I have made a big mistake?

The new SID is indeed stiffer than ones of old, but has cut outs to achieve the lighter weight, and a slimmer crown. Possibly narrower thickness tubes too.. You probably won't break it lol, but the Reba is designed to be ridden harder.
