Garmin 705 loosing Candence

My 705 has stopped sensing either of the two sensors I have on each bike.

Anyone else had this?

Changed batteries etc in both. Worked Saturday on weekend bike nothing Sunday. Got the training bike out this morning changed bike profile and still didn't pick the cadence sensor up.

Both the sensors have the light light up as the crank passes.

Have you tried repairing the sensors in the other bike profile?

Gone through everything I can think of. Just turned the unit on and it searches for the cadence sensor as the little icon of pedals is flashing.

Bizarre I know both the sensors work and the unit is searching for them but not picking them up.

Maybe a total reset will cure.

Had the same on one of my candence sensors, got it working again after a new battery and swapping the bike it was on (bizzarely) and it worked for a few days then died again.

    Think the unit is goosed.

One of the bits of advice I've seen when changing batteries in the GSC-10 is to either leave the battery out for a while (several minutes IIRC) or put it in backwards to short it before putting it in the right way. You might find if you then repair it'll work. If not it may be goosed

    +1 there Burton.

Same happened with mine, new batteries ran out within days. Assumption, after resetting and checking that the sensor and battery were not adjacent overnight, that the sensor was draining the battery.

Garmin little to no help, new sensor bought and now working fine for the last 3 months.

A previous post, last year, thought that the sensor was not waterproof and that washing the bike had created problems, whatever anew unit still needed.

Bite the bullet time I'm afraid.

before doing anything drastic, take the battery out overnight. it more often than not clears it.

it sorted mine out the last time i had the same problem

Just checking lads that after fitting the new battery, that you then choose on the Garmin to re-detect the sensor, then press the button on the cadence and start pedalling, it works every time for me.

Wth noting as well that you can actually discharge these kind of batteries enough to render them useless by holding the +ive and -ive faces between thumb and forefinger. Hold them around the edge to prevent this. If you've reset the GSC-10 by holding in the button until the light flashes, reset the 705 as well and are sure that the crank magnets are still in place enough to be detected by the sensor (ligh flashes every revolution for a minute I think after a reset?), have you looked at the Bike profiles on your Edge to see if they are still setup for detecting a GSC-10?

Both bikes are set for cadence sensor in their respective profiles.

It is odd that two bikes with sensors on each and the unit doesn't detect either. Lights on both sensors show them detecting the cranks rotating.

As I said worked fine Saturday and then Sunday and today nothing.

Have you tried resetting the 705 itself (hold the LAP and MODE button together, page 2 of the manual)?

It sounds like the GSC-10s are both working fine. It'd be highly unlikely that both have developed the exact same fault at the exact same time, independantly of each other. The problem must lie with the 705 itself.
