Carrera Kraken Vs. Giant Talon 2

I had a Carrera Kraken (approx £430) which was stolen. The insurance company cannot source Carrera and wish to replace it with, what they have deemed a better bike - Giant Talon 2 - £550.
Obviously price suggests they may be correct but as I have no idea about bikes I wanted to check this out. I am not a serious rider but at the same time don't want to be getting ripped off when the bike I had, I really liked.
Is there much of a difference?

the Kraken's been around for ages, so really depends on which one you had. If your insurance company has offered a Talon 2 as a replacement, i'd snap their hand off!0
