Grips worn out quickly

Not sure if the problem is with my grips or worn out gloves;
After a bit of rain the abrasive surface on my grips wore out in about 20 mins. I also noticed a sticky residue was left.
Bearing in mind my bike was about 3 weeks old when this happened I was hoping for a bit more life out of them!
My off-road gloves are fairly worn and cheap (bikehut) and was wondering if it was due to that?
I'll need to replace the grips as they're now useless due to the smooth surface.

what grips? there are loads of different compounds you can choose from... from uber sticky but fast wearing to less sticky and long lasting..0

As fitted to a new Orange G2. They are 'Strange' lock-ons. I think Strange is Orange's own make.1999 Scott Vail - Work commute

Strange lock ons are crap.
They are the first things i removed from both my Orange's.
Try some of the SuperStar Grips. Very good. Make sure you dont order the super tacky ones though or you might end up with the same problem.0
