10 speed derailler on 9 speed system

Considering buying a couple of spare Veloce deraillers, but having problems finding them. Need medium and long cage, 9 speed models. Is it possible to use 10 speed Campag deraillers on 9 speed shifters?
Just that if 9 speed parts become obselute it'll mean replacing shifters, cassette and of course derailler...almost £300. Times that by two for the two bikes...gulp. I've found one so far reply from the shop "This is a 2009 10sp derailleur "

a 10 sp derailleur will work ok with a 9sp shifter. The range of movement is the same; with 10 speed shifters it would just move a little less with each click. So no need to panic and start stockpiling rear mechs.0
