I've spent all week banging on about how much i'm looking forward to getting out on my MTB in the Lakes with friends on Bookface including...

Is looking forward to smashing his bike up and breaking a few bones on sat in the lakes.

Hardcore XC riding tomorrow in the lakes, mint.

and ending with

Now knows what his leg bone looks like

Doing about 25mph down the first decent my front wheel picked up a house brick sized slate rock which my leg, just above the ankle, smacked into. i didn't think much of it until i got to the bottom.

anyway got it strapped up, got back to my car and drove 160 miles to my local A&E where the nurse pulled out a small tooth size lump of bone (which she wouldn't let me keep).

check out my HR, you can see the moment i realise how bad the cut was. lol.

That's a good war wound there fella, good effort.
Bad show for the nurses not letting you keep your bone though.

Hands up those who have just had their lunch and haven't looked?

On another note shin wraps rule :) If it wasn't for them my left calf pretty much where it joins achillies tendon would have been mince with a pedal strike (failed bail to avoid comedy over the handlebars forward flip), I managed to get away with a level two getting on three contusion and was told by the doctor I was lucky not to break my leg. There is still a tender pedal shaped lump six weeks on.

Moral always wear shin and calf protection.

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?
