Eyup,

The plastic washer on my sons quick release seatpost clamp has disintegrated so time for a new clamp.

We got his Specialized Hardrock off ebay and think its roughly a 2003-4 model. The seatpost itself has 30.9 marked on it and the clamp currently fitted has 36 stamped on it.

Hoping someone can confirm which size clamp should fit ? The '36' stamped on the existing clamp has thrown me ?

That would mean it's a 36 ... Seatpost clamp size is seatpost and seat tube combined. If in doubt take off the clamp and remove the post , measure the diameter (outer) of the seat tube. This should be 36.

Bugger, thought it must be 36 which makes it rare and 3 times the cost of a 34.9 !

Might just buy a cheap 34.9 clamp for £5 and use the nylon bushing rather than buy a hope 36.4 for £17 !

if you look on Spesh's webby it lists the size.

and yes it is 36mm if it is a 2004

The hopes are nice though. Mine seems much smoother than the cheap thing that came with the bike and has a definite "lock" feel.

Bit the bullet and ordered a 'new' hope QR clamp in 36.4mm off a private seller on ebay for £9.99 delivered.

Think it could be an old style - the quick release lever has a sort of round end to it.

Anyway, hopefully should do the trick.
