I have submitted to pressure / hype / cult-status and got myself an mmmbop as i have been wanting to do a self-build for a while now- problem is i havent got a clue what im doing!

So... with regards to brakes, i am after Hayes Stroker Trails (have them on my Kona Hoss and they have been almost perfect) and am thinking of putting a set on the mmmbop- unless anyone can tell me a brake that is better at stopping a big heavy guy!?

CRC site says that the rear can handle 203mm, my concern is the front- can a pair of PIKE forks run 203mm rotors or will i need an adaptor?

I am still trying to get used to the PM and IS terminology, so forgive my ignorance / misunderstanding of what is probably a simple thing.

  • youll need an adaptor, a picture would help :) cause that way we can establish what kind of adaptor you'll need, and theres a really helpful guide to Post mount and International standard in the workshop and tech FAQs :)

The Pikes are IS mount and can handle 203mm rotor.
And by looking from the pictures the Stroker Trails are PM, so you'll need an adaptor like this one if it doesn't come with the brakes.
