Sadly I don't see many fellow cyclists on my 8 mile commute (Waltham Abbey to Tottenham). In fact I have only ever overtaken 8 cyclists in the past 2 years along the same route, and not once been overtaken until tonight!!!
There I was, holding a very nice 25mph (with a tailwind) when lo and behold a chap on a mountainbike comes flying past, grinning inanely and pedalling like a loon. He's followed immediately by a dark blue BMW, and here is where the 'BUT' comes in (and maybe my pride restored?). As it approaches he stays in the middle of the road so that the BMW can undertake him and then promptly grabs hold of the rear door and takes another tow, easily hitting 35mph+. As they turn off shortly afterwards he looks back with a triumphant smirk...
