The newly reformed Ballymoney Cycling Club are promoting a FUNDRAISING event

"The James Elliott - Bridges of Hope Community Cycle"

James Elliott, 14, was swept away after he jumped into the River Bush in Stranocum to rescue a pet dog. James was a pupil at Dalriada Grammar School, Ballymoney, and a talented footballer with Linfield's youth team. Dozens of friends and relatives took part in the massive search operation after James was swept away. The search included the Coastguard, Bann River Rescue, RAF, Royal Navy, Fire and Rescue Service, police search teams and the police helicopter.

James' parents attended the August club meeting and it's fair to say their story touched the hearts of everyone there that evening and the club were determined to help in whatever way we could to raise much needed funds for essential equipment required by Community Resuce in their work.

There are 3 rides organised with family and kids primarily in mind (3.5, 9 and 22 miles) each designed to cross the many bridges over the River Bush. It's hoped in future years to develope a full sportive distance ride

So if anyone is in Northern Ireland over the weekend you're more than welcome to come along to Stranocum (Co Antrim) on Saturday morning

More details and routes can be found here http://www.ballymoneycyclingclub.com/

Thanks
