Whats the general consensus? I'm looking at either a Redwin PG990 or an XT Cassette, bling wise i know the Sram wins hands down but performance wise which is better?
Also what chain would be recommended to go with either?
When it comes to cassettes and chains i honestly dont have a clue!

Sram chain.
and either cassette.
I use both and am happy with both.
the forum would say XT."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I would go XT cassette with sram 991 chain unless you really want a red cassetteI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0

SLX is very XT-like but much cheaper (cassettes)
moved onto KMC chains now, after using SRAM for a few years. KMC all the way for me
IME there's very little between SRAM and Shimano cassettes but Shimano just gets the nod.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
I would always go Sram chains and Sram cassettes.
These people that say Sram cassettes are cheese are talking rubbish. As long as you look after them properly, they last ages0 -
i'd go xt over slx every time, having both xt is far nicer and smoother to use,
although the Sram blingery is Hard to beat! makes a nice addition to the normally boring looking cogs!
chain wise KMC all the way!Timmo.

Deore cassette half the price lasts just as long. KMC X9 chain cheaper than SRAM or Shimano equivalents but have a really good life in my experience.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Sometimes you need a higher quality cassette though0 -

Also weigh a ton (literally, they are 1000kg of cassette), and mark alu freehub bodies more easily.
XT and PG991 for my money.0
