I'm pretty new to road cycling, I've been riding a Focus Variado for just over a year with Shimano 105 throughout. No dramas until recently, I've been getting alot of chain slippage (especially when out of the saddle on the ascent) and today I had to get off and manually move the chain from the small to large front cog when it just plain refused to shift! Any advice of sticky brakes would be welcomed as well. I de-grease and re-lube the whole chainset on a regular basis and usually ride about 100-120 miles per week.

Cheers.

    +1 cable stretch.

With the LH shifter on the smallest ring, feel the tension on the cable under the downtube. It should have some tension on it. If it's slack and wobbly, just undo the FD cable clamp, pull the cable tight and redo the clamp up. Test.
