Drivetrain Replacement

So I've recently purchased a Trek 1000 (02/05 model) and the bike arrived in not so stellar condition. There were little niggly things which I can replace and live with, however the chainrings, casette and chain are badly worn. Upon asking for a refund the seller apologised and asked for a repair bill so that we're not both loosing money on postage.
The Trek 1000 is an entry level bike and such I don't think he would be willing to pay any more than £100, am I going to be best off simply replacing the sora, or can I get something better for the price?
