More mojo than a Mojo?

I stupidly tested an Ibis Mojo yesterday and fell in love. The way it flew up hill was immense and although it took a bit of getting used to on the downs, by the end of a lap of Llandegla I found myself flicking it around like a fool (at one point I actually laughed because I was having so much fun  ) I did feel a couple of times that it was a little steep though.
As a result, I'm contemplating getting rid of both my bikes and splashing out. Is there anything else I should be considering? The Mojo is a thing of beauty, so not interested in anything that looks 'functional.' Looking for a frame only and predominantly for trail centre riding.

Im going through almost the same thing. Just test rode the Yeti asr5 and shaved 30 mins of my time around llandegla.
I am thinking should i try the mojo all you read says how amazing the bike is. People take it on alpine runs throw it off big crazy things and love it. Is the Asr5 the right choice. i do love yetis after how well my asx is still going after 8 or so years. The test ride was amazing but is it the right bike what else is out there? plus the guys in the shop were all for the mojo.0 -
+ 1 for the mojo, amazing bike, and they look fantastic, might also be worth considering the whyte 146 or maybe santa cruz blur ltc, both fantastic rides0

How about one of the Trek Carbon framed full sus bikes? Fuel EX or if you want more travel a Remedy?
No personal experience but know a few people who rave about them a lot.0 -
Go for it! They're absolutely fantasticly made, the build quality up close is like no other bike I've ridden. They're also the most solid company for support I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. My issue was purely cosmetic on a second hand frame too, Hans still had me sorted out in no time.
They'd be a lot more popular were it not for the abysmal job of marketing them over here the previous distributor did, 2pure are doing much better!
Curious you mentioned it being too steep? Head angle? Mine feels slacker than my Meta with a set of 140mm Revs on, if anything I quite fancy some U-Turns asap to keep the front end down a bit more
Edit: Or, given you said downs, would you be refering to the quite short feeling of the frame, leaving you a bit over the front end?0 -
Boss - if you fancy testing the mojo we can go Llandegla again on Tues/Weds. I'll give the asr5 a try, bet you can't keep up with me again!
Lawman & Jairaj - cheers for the recommendations. Gonna be having a look at the blur ltc and the remedy I think.
Toasty - I actually tested the large, which with a layback post was too stretched out for me! The head angle was a tad steep, but then I am going from 07 Orange crush and an 08 Mongoose Teocali which both feel much slacker than the Mojo. Obviously don't go uphill anywhere near as quickly as the Mojo though!0 -
I tested a regular SL at Bikeradar live and it's by far and away my favourite FS frame.
What forks was it running? If it felt a little step though, perhaps consider the HD version with a more travel and slacker angles.0 -
It had Fox Float 32 RLC 140mm, which to be honest I didn't get on with as well as I do my Revs but they're 140mm aswell. I thought about the HD but then I'm up to £4k for the build :? No point being a tightarse kitting out a £2k frame!
Already given up smoking a week ago and going to be cancelling sky tv tomorrow so that I can cover the finance and therefore justify that the bike will technically be costing me nothing over the 36 months 8)0 -
At that price I'd be trying as much as I could... what about the Turner 5-Spot? Having ridden an older one for the last 5 years or so and the reports saying the DW Link version is better I'd certainly try and give it a shot as well...
There was a review last month in one of the mags of some fairly serious frames - think the Elsworth won in the end, so that might also be worth a look..0 -
these look nice and not many about, but having seen the recent mojo build on here id go for mojo no arguments. never heard a bad work against them and one of the best looking bikes ever
