White Tyres - Good Idea or Bad Idea?

I'd seen some Schwalbe Fat Franks in a cream white the other day. I thought they looked pretty cool, but the bike was unused. Has anyone had a set of white tires before? Will they hold they clean look if I'm commuting regularly?

I've got cream Delta Cruisers on a bike, they're great. Got whitewalls on another bike, don't like how dirt shows up.

Depends on how much you enjoy cleaning your bike? Tho' white tyres only look new once - before you take the bike for a ride, after that they tend to go greyish.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • I've got white striped Rubinos on my chrome single speed. They're a little grubbier than they were, but they still look great.

Girlfriend's bike has whitewalls, they do turn quite grey quite quickly, but you can clean them up with white spirit or washing up liquid. I've been cleaning them with white spirit for years and it doesn't do anything bad to the tyres. They never quite get back to the gleaming white that they were in the packet, but you can clean them pretty well.
