My lycra shorts don't have a chamois seat pad, but a synthetic antibacterial pad, now a few people have suggested using chamois cream to ease the discomfort on my nether regions, do I use the cream on my butt or on the pad in the shorts, can it be used on the synthetic material or can it only be used on chamois?

Try posting this in the roadies forum too, and maybe do a search for 'chamois' in the forums. I remember seeing some threads about it a few weeks ago . . .

Don't even think they make real chamois pads any more, all of mine are coolmax or something.
Just smear the cream liberally around your bits, paying special attention to the folds and cracks, and enjoy.

I use basic aqueous cream from the pound shop - works as well as any, but I don't do huge distances.
