At the end of this year. Doesn't think he'll make the 2012 Olympic Team so he's going to take up a coaching role with the Academy.

Always one of the classiest track riders IMO and a former World Champ to boot.

He also seemed to have the longest back/spine i've ever seen on a cyclist!

  • He's down to ride the Newport (Shropshire) Nocturne on Saturday 04th September, could be one of the last chances to see him ride.

"classy" as in pi$$ing in a team-mates bed out of spite?
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    HHHUUUUUURRRRR

Put an outsider in with a load of lads in any situation and you'd get a bit of boorish behaviour I'm sure.

As it stands, not just a good track rider but excellent road man too. Probably would have done well on the continent if the track opportunities hadn't arisen.

Never heard about this?.....sounds 'interesting'...care to enlighten me?

Fantastic cyclist though, seen him race both track and road, and he always looked very strong.

It's in Obree's book. Newton pissed in Obree's bed at a World Cup track meet and generally bullied him after Obree dropped him on a climb at a GB squad training camp. This was a major thing for Obree as, when he was a child, he and his brother had been set on by a gang of older boys and were urinated on at knife point.

:( Gone down in my estimation......not that he'll be too bothered!

Isn't Obree involved with BC in some capacity as a coach nowadays?

He's not that good. That old gezzers nearly catching him up. :D
