Hi Guys,
Got a pair of 2006 Revs 426 bought second hand, discharged all air from positive and negative, when I released the air from + the fork sank into its travel by 100mm I know this is not correct but before I set out stripping them anyone any ideas as to what is wrong? I've had to put 300psi in the + to get the travel back if that helps.
Thanks in advance
Ali

which did you discharge first?
or have you made sure they are both totally empty?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Discharged - first, and yes they were both empty, filled - upto 130psi then + which took 300psi to get full travel again0

empty all again and start with the positive and see what you need to get 25% sag.
then add negative to suit.
positive should always be done first."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ok buddie I will do that and let you know0

ok done that, forks gained travel alot faster and only put 140psi in + and 130 in -, what I did notice is when I discharged air from the - a creamy oily liquid discharge as well, like from a old compressor, is this normal?0
-
it is if you have the forks vertical as the oil sits at the bottom of the fork leg and the air blows it out."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

So normal and nothing to worry about then?0
-
well you should have the forks on their side to lessen oil loss.
it is for lube.
any idea as to when the last service was?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

No idea, but I think I will get them booked in for one.
Once again thanks for the advice.0 -
I have a related question about 2010 Air rev Race's. Any reason why running them intentionally with about 20-30% more negative air than positive air pressure would cause a problem? The reason is to purposely reduce the travel temporarily so they fit on another frame I have that is more suited to 110/120mm forks. By doing the above the axle-to-crown measurement and available travel becomes roughly the same as my coils 426's set at 110mm. They feel fine when set as described above but thought I'd ask the guys here that know a lot more than me!0
