    I hope it's not a dog, it cost me a fortune (£350).

When I was 21 (1989) we bought two identical new Rovers for my first business. One was great and did 40k miles in the first year, the other fell to bits with 1/4 the miles. What model did you buy?

R reg 200, 110k on the clock and very clean. Got to get the coolant changed Friday, these things are notorious for blowing head gaskets.

I'm on my third consecutive Rover. My 'J' 200 bent valves after a bust cam belt @ 140,000. I fixed it and sold it to a neighbour. I crashed my 'T' 400 :( and my 'Y' 45 is going strong and about to pass 100,000. All these had great boot space into which I could put my bike with just the wheels removed. Anything else of the same size would require the back seats to be dropped.

Before I bought my first Rover I had a 'D' Ford Sierra, after which I swore never to buy a Ford ever again.

The Rover V8 in my car doesn't seem to leak oil. They do run with positive crank case pressure tho, so any oil mist will get blown out of the breather - but this should be connected to the carb and burnt.

I know nothing about the fuel injected ones, a bit too new for me . . .
  • I had a 414 for 3 months as a company car. I used to drive to Bracknell from the M25 J29 every day. I did 13k miles while I had it. Very comfortable seats, but it got very noisy over 60 and at 80+ it gave me a head ache by the time I got home.
