Anthem X frame sizing- metal vs carbon

Does anyone know if there's a difference in reality between sizing on carbon and metal Anthem X frames? I know on paper the numbers are the same.
I'm looking at end-of-year deals on an Anthem X3- being 5'7" I'm somewhere between a small and medium frame, with the small looking more favourable on paper.
For one reason or another I've so far only been able to sit on a medium metal frame (which I have also ridden) and a small carbon one. On the medium frame the seatpost was hardly out at all and I needed a 65mm stem; on the small frame there's about a foot of seatpost between the frame and saddle and the 110mm stem currently fitted feels comfortable!
So can anyone confirm that either:
a) Anthem carbon frames come out a different size to metal ones
or
b) Anthem frames have a massive difference between small and medium?
And for info, I will be returning to the shop in question to sit on a small metal frame before making any decisions. I just wanted to see if anyone here had any knowledge on the issue
