At last, cant remember the last time I went out on the bike and there wasnt a force 10 headwind to deal with.

Will be out on the bike tonight making the most of it :D

Anyone else fed up with the wind lately?

Are all your routes one way then?

Not at all, did I say they were?

I'm chronically sick of it. No matter how hard I try to remain rational, I end up treating the wind as a personal attack against me, from the gods.

The central joy in cycling for me is the sensation of whisking along with little apparent effort, literally quicker than the wind; that feeling is demolished by a slogging headwind. As I grovel into it picturing myself grinding down my favourite descent to come, with which I end most rides, 15mph slower than possible on a still day, I end up cursing the heavens: perfect futility! Damn wind.

No, but it must be a strange wind that blows against you the whole way round a circuit. Or it could be that you meant "a force 10 headwind at some point" but somehow forgot to mention the force 10 tailwind there must have been at some other point?

No wind is rubbish, the wind is so low today that it means a lower speed in a tailwind.

It needs to be a couple mph higher this wind. What a disgrace, I want a refund.

:D exactly, see I didnt need to mention it as you already knew.

Id still rather not have either, just a calm day.
  • Dont be a Nancy...man up

I love a good head wind...its great for strength training
  • I bloody hate it. I always have a headwind on the way to work in the morning, and its there going to other way when cycling home!! Sometimes i let off a loud cry of fury.

Although i must admit i dont mind it so much with my new Giant. A windy day used to take me 50 minutes to get to work now its 40minutes, 35 if i push it.

Since returning from a holiday in the UK last Thursday we have had nothing but strong winds and rain and thats the forecast all week. Have just upgraded my bike with new Campag Record Levers, and front and rear mech and a new one-piece bar/stem combo. But sadly with all the debris on the road with fallen branches e.t.c. i am going to have to wait. Must also admit that while in the UK and sitting right near the Lake District i felt so ´bike horny´ looking at all those hills.

I'm not a fan of wind, but if you're like me, you like a tailwind at the end of your ride - on the homeward leg?

If you're also like me and live on the Wirral, you'll know this isn't always possible. Recently the wind has been from the North, actually at least 9 days or so, which means the end of all my rides (wether I go Cheshire or North Wales) have ended with a grovel into the wind.

Hasn't stopped me going out, though 8)

When I lived in Lincoln I would just head out into a headwind, and it was always possible.
