30th Birthday Dilema

Its the big 30 come October and Mrs W has asked what i want. When i said a Planet X pro Carbon SL frame and forks she didnt wince. So far so good....then i got it in to my head about a titanium frame.
Now she (i) cant afford a Lynksey or even the planet X ti frame but XACD seem to get a good write up on here and for (hopefully) circa £450 it seems a great deal. For ease and the fact she can buy from somewhere that has some comeback should there be a problem the Planet X makes sense however a titanium frame has some real appeal.
Putting aside the carbon v ti argument (unless it is going to make a difference) what makes the most sense? My heart is telling me titanium but i would hate for the transaction to go wrong through either my poor build details or any other reason, especially as its a birthday present and not my money/risk.
Im a weekend warrior and have no plans to race. I have a aluminium Giant with rival that will be migrating to a new frame. What do you guys think? Sorry for an epic post!

Personally I would go for Titanium, your wife might as well if you tell her that [barring any disasters] she won't have to replace it on your 40th and 50th birthday etc,

Sorry, missed that from your original post.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0
