I was in Tesco on saturday and saw a 'turkey saddle', not even the entire bird, for £30. Yes, thirty of your english pounds.
I suspect that, as is usual with Tesco, the price will se-saw until they can shift them but I think what I eat for chr*stm*s will be what lands on my lawn first thing on chr*stm*s morning.

I'm not sure snow will go too well with roast spuds."There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -
I made a nice home made chicken/veg curry for xmas dinner last year - was lovely, dont believe in all the xmas commercial crap.
I laugh at all the people rushing around the supermarkets in the run up to xmas, buying ten loaves of bread and ten jugs of milk and filling up their trolleys - bloomin shops are only closed for one day at most - some are even open on xmas day!!!
Its all madness.Skinny Git on a Bianchi.0 -
They put the prices of such things up now so that in 3 months time they can drop it again and claim it is "half price" or whatever.0

Had no where to go and had no money, so had beans on toast for Christmas dinner. Likely be the same again this year.

A Turkey Saddle is also a piece of equipment breeders use in the mating of Turkeys - make sure you know what you're buying!0

Slaps violin out of hands...
Heavens above. Unless it's by choice of course, you shouldn't have to be alone. Can't you foist yourself on someone. You've got 4 months to put out some feelers. At least put a couple of quid aside periodically for a chop or something.
Really.. do your friends know this? I bet if they did you wouldn't be alone.0 -
Kinda sad that my own uncle, who lives around 4 miles away, didn't invite me for Christmas - they came up that morning and then buggered off. My other friends mostly live down south, and the people I worked with never said a word and they knew I was on my own again.
Going to see what i can arrange for this coming Christmas, maybe visit a few of those friends down south. Annoyingly I have a cat, and when I asked the neighbours if they'd check on her if I went away, one ummed and ahhhed and the other said they were going away that same week...http://www.youtube.com/user/Eurobunneh - My Youtube channel.0 -

Advice is to stay out of Tesco altho' I was in Waitrose recently (i'm not rich,I was seeing what rich people eat) and they had some special free range chickens at £5+ per kilo making the one I was looking at £15. Morrisons do corn fed/free range ones for approx.£5M.Rushton0 -
I'm sorry to hear that Bunneh.
How about anyone from the 30+NW CC? Either to spend time with or to cycle over to cast an eye over the cat. Is the cat quite young/no medical probs. I'm not saying go off for a week, but if she's sensible it is possible to leave them for a night or two with plenty of dried food, water and plenty of litter (2 trays if poss) or access to the outside.
Ours were absolutely fine if we went a way for a day or two, can't now she's far too old and requires daily injections. So that's our holidays up the swanny until all her 9 lives run out.
Have you made any friends from your blog - even if it's just a Christmas drink at the pub.
... and.. just to keep this vaguely OT. For those with the time and inclination to go to a supermarket quite late on Xmas Eve, there are major bargains to be had, especially if you like salmon. It's not as busy as you think, but you do need a freezer.0 -
Most I've paid for a Turkey was 2.99 it was Daredevil with Ben AFfleck. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -

Sorry lost this thread
I wouldn't like to impose on people I've only really just met. The cat's nearly 16 and has never really been without me for more than 8 hours; she pines when I'm away too long so it's a real bind at the moment. There's a few good guys I know, Flasheart being one, who I think I could pay a visit on but I wouldn't stay too long, christmas is family, last thing people want is me there.
I can always use the oven the gas myself, but then I can't do that, got a cat lol!http://www.youtube.com/user/Eurobunneh - My Youtube channel.0 -
You won't only have just met them, it's 4 months away yet. Ingratiate yourself a bit. Butter them up. Understand about the cat. Ours is 19 now. I'll be surprised if she makes it til Christmas tbh.
A few good guys - now we're getting somewhere. Flasheart went through my mind actually. Good idea. Don't go assuming people don't want you. You could ask him, or just wait for him to read this thread......
It might be 'for family' but frankly there's people who can't wait to get rid and just spend the time with friends (that'll be you then) instead. Besides, no ones suggesting you stay till New Years..... Or wait til New Years, that's definitely more friend oriented.
If you're gonna gas yourself at least put a chop in the oven then when you remember the cat, then tea'll be done. I don't mean to come across as telling you what to do, I'm just nosey and meddling.0
