Bought a Gran Fondo recently and loving it.
Using mainly for fitness in between MTBing.
Came as standard with Vittoria Rubino 3 Rigid Tyres.
Reading the forums, it reads like a tyre upgrade will be of major benefit. Krylions carbons appear to be well recommended.
I DON'T need a race tyre.
Should I upgrade?

Only after the current ones wear out, waste otherwise IMO

You will benefit more by getting fitter through riding more rather than small incremental upgrades. As above save your dosh for when they are wearing out.

Also i'd add that if you upgrade all the bits straight away then you won't have the experience to notice the benefit of better components as they will just be the norm.

Vittoria Rubino 3's are a decent tyre anyway, definately wait til they're worn out first.

Tyres are the best and easiest upgrade you can make. If money isn`t an issue do it,
    I recommend conti gp4000s.

  • Sorry antfly, kinda disagree with the tyre reccomendation, I find them too soft and cut very easy, not wanting to temp the faits but I have been running some Fortenzza quatro tricomp (Vredestein) for over 12 months and they are the dogs bo11ocks, no cuts or nicks, stick like clue, I use them on my Storck, My cube has been through Gators, GP4000 and some Vittoria tyres. next tyre set for the Cube will be the Fortenzza without a doubt.

I did mean GP4000 with the s, the s is important. Anyway I don`t want to turn this into another best tyre debate but I just replaced my rear tyre after nearly 6000 miles and the front is still going strong. The point is better tyres are worth investing in, you pays your money and you takes your choice as to which ones.
