Rear Mech - Chain Catching

Now this may seem like a stupid question but: Are the jockey wheels on on XT rear mech slightly different in terms of size?
I took my chain off last weekend to clean it and thought I'll take my jockey wheels off at the same time for the same reason. I've put them back on and the chain and now the chain seems to catch the hanger between the jockey wheels. Its only just catching but the resulting noise is pretty annoying.
I cant say I noticed the noise before I cleaned it and I'm pretty sure it shouldnt be doing it. The bit its catching is the lip in the middle of the hanger, it looks like a guide.
Any help would be appreciated. I have lubed the chain.

Have you put it the right side of the little tab?
And I think the jockey wheels are different sizes, yes0 -
Yeah yeah, its the right side.
But I didnt note which wheel i removed from where, so if they are different sizes then that is probably it. It seems like the most obvious solution.
Thanks for the reply, I will take it apart again tomorrow and switch them around.0 -
The floating wheel goes at the top.0

and the is the "G pulley".
it says so on the side."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

No joy.
The jockey wheels are fine, and i've taken it to bits and put it back together.
Could it be that my chain is too long? I'm sure the chain should pass between the jockeys without coming into contact with anything else.
It's doing my head in and I;m starting to think its always been like it. That could be the Formby Cycles build or lack of build. £1500 on a bike that clearly hadnt been set up at all.0 -
pics and make sure the chain misses the tab."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I'm struggling to upload any pics, and I'm really struggling to figure out how to make the chain miss the tab. It must have been doing it all along and I only removed the chain and jockey wheels to clean them. I dont see how its taking such a close route along the hanger. Any adjustment to the derailleur makes no difference. It continues to run right along the hanger between the jockey wheels.0

You do have the chain on the outside of the tab, don't you?I don't do smileys.

Yeah I do. It running smoothly enough but because of the slight catch its makign a racket.0

Actually. No I dont. What a clown. I thought I had, I thought the lid was a guide and that looked like the obvious route for the chain. I've now looked at my maintenance book and I have it routed the wrong side.
Sorry for being a time wasting muppet. You live and learn though I suppose.0 -
Hehe, many make this mistake, I did it myself not long ago! And I have fit 100s of chains!0

No worries, next time someone asks the same thing (and it won't be long), you too can sound all clever and superior.I don't do smileys.
