Evening all,

I 'm just looking for any riders in or near Salisbury for any info on any good car quiet training routes etc. Possibly a long shot, but thought I'd give a go.

Thanking you,

Martin

I used to live in Salisbury, it can be hard to find quiet routes at times! Generally there are quiet roads along most of the river valleys - along the Wylie valley out towards Warminster if you go along the Langfords, or there's a nice shortish loop to the north along the Woodfords. Going east-west from Statford Tony towards Fifield Bavant is normally fairly quiet too. Or go down to the New Forest...

If you're adventurous you can then start joining up the roads, by going from one valley to the next, ie start in Salisbury, go to Fifield Bavant, turn North towards Fovant, keep going north towards the Langfords, go along to Great Wishford then go into the Woodford valley etc.

I think there's also a Salisbury Road Club that do rides on a Wednesday or Thursday evening from the Market Square, and a CTC group that do regular rides, can't remember their websites but Google will find them. Or ask in Stonehenge Cycles, their mechanic used to lead some of the rides.

    Hope this helps!

Head N out of Sal if you want longer rides -Stockbridge and surrounding area an towards Tidworth are faily quiet and have some good hills. Go search on mapmyride. I've put at least 8 rides on there for this area. Some of the roads have that cheap chipping on and are quite buzzy!!
