Cannondale Synapse or Six

Plan to get my first 'proper' road bike, not interested in racing so decided a Synapse is probably a better choice but can't try one around here as no 2010 stock left. Tried the standard Six (not Evans 'special') and it's lovely but I worried it's a bit too much of a racer for me as I want a reasonably comfortable ride and I felt a little stretched out on it. Is this a matter of getting used to a new position? currently ride a flat barred commuter & a mountain bike so this is a whole new ball game for me, and I don't want to make an expensive mistake.
LBS currently got one Six left in my size £200 off with my name on it until tomorrow. They've offered to change to a shorter stem and flip it over to increase the angle but is this just tinkering?
Decisions decisions. Please help me spend my money!

Had the same thing going from an allez to a cayo but adjusting the saddle, flipping the stem etc pretty much sorted things out. still takes some getting used to and when on the drops i feel low down. Thing is when i go back to the allez this feels more like an MTB riding position! I am sure you will be fine but just need someone to help you make the all important adjustments.0

Evil - 56cm seems to be best fit, although my sirrus is a 57cm.
solboy - thanks for the comments, I'm sure you're right, just don't want to make a mistake!0 -
Sportive riding, longer riding etc then get the Synapse, or you'll get the Six whack a stack of spacer under the stem then flip it which will make it look shi7.
Honestly both bikes are great (I have ridden both) get the one which you like the most, but asthetically a flipped stem just looks wrong.Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -

damn right!
I dont feel that there is a fantastic amount of difference between the 2...
I have my own Synapse set up with a low front end now...
I'd be able to tell the difference between a Ford Focus and a Lambo but I'd be pushed to do the same between bikes so similar in this price bracket.0 -
FYI I've got both a Synapse (training) and Supersix and after twelve months with both I find the Supersix equally comfortable. Did the Etape on Supersix and various sportives on both, and for me the Supersix is the one I would have if I had to choose...0

Gone for the Six (standard stem, not flipped, no spacers), took it out for a longer ride in normal cycling gear and got on with it a lot better. It's a lovely bike, not sure I can do it justice!0

Great choice and so glad you've not flipped the stem as other posters have said it looks rubbish and often a solution for a bike that doesn't fit.
When I first got my CAAD9 I was a bit uncomfortable with the slightly racier position, but after a while I got got used to it and now I love it. Enjoy.Specialized Venge S Works

Note the tatty fence juxtaposing the fine outline and colours of this superb machine. Also it's not my fence.
Enough about the fence....
How do I shrink it down to fit?0 -
