Hi,

This is my first post, I have been looking on the site for while. Thought I would ask you guys opinion on a new bike for myself.

I am looking at the Wilier Mortirolo (maybe the veloce model) the Bianchi Infinito Veloce & the discounted Giant TCR Advanced 2 (seen for £1,999)

I am looking for a bike that is comfortable on long runs, I will not want to upgrade too soon & will last me for a while.

Could anyone let me know their thoughts? Especially if anyone has one of these bikes.

Thanks in advance!

You will be much better off test riding whatever bikes you are considering than asking peoples' opinions. Most will tell you that what they own is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but that does not mean that YOU will like it. Fit and ride quality are crucial and best determined by riding!

The TCR at 1999 is great value and is the best of the bunch you mentioned, the overall equipment fitted is sound (the Bianchi at 2500 with 140 rims is madness)

Ps. I'm a little biased as I have a TCR Adv 2 and am very pleased with it

Ok I have a Wilier mortirolo veloce - and love it to bits - it handles and climbs better than the Cervelo and I own and the only upgrade done is swapping the wheels for Fulcrum R1's - but still keep the Racing 7's for winter

but we are all different, so ride it. - on the plus side has to be its Italian and not as common as the others - always gets admiration at the club

Thought about a Kuota Kharma Race, upgrading to Ultegra or a higher end Campag GS and some nice rims and still keeping it around £2K?

Cycle Surgery now have the Wilier Izoard for £1999. The Bianchi Infinito can be had from Epic with Fulcrum Racing 3's, and other places will match this.

I went for the Wilier, can't comment on the Giant.

Thanks very much for the replies. . .

I tested the Wilier, the mortirolo mirage version which I loved. I was going to try the Bianchi later in the week & hopefully the Giant at the weekend.

I currently commute using a Specialized Sirrus pro hybrid, about 30 kilometres per day. The road bike will be my first, I cannot wait to get it!

Thanks for the info on the Wilier Iozard for £1,999 at Cycle surgery, that has thrown a spanner into the works.

Except the Infinito with Veloce is only 1900... If that makes any difference....
  • I have a Mortirolo Veloce and an Infinito Athena... the Wilier is very nice, but the Bianchi is in another league. I imagine the Izoard is more in the Infinito class.

I've just upgraded my 3 yr old Bianchi 928 C2C (Ultegra) to a Bianchi Infinito C2C Veloce.

I was expecting things to have been very similar but was totally blown away by how smooth and quiet the new bike is. There was markedly less vibration coming through the frame which seems to have moved on massively. Even the Veloce groupset is fabulous to use!

Only the stock wheels are a little disappointing (Fulcrum 7's) but I'll put a pair of Easton's on it for the springtime :D

First ride today so I need to get out lots more to give a full report, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Infinito so far.

    Paul.

    It's great to be .....
