Replacement Chainring

I need to replace the outer and middle chainrings on a triple chainset. I have bought the chainrings but the packaging on the middle chainring is marked up as being for a double rather than a triple chainset. Will this make any difference ? (eg will it be happy to change up to the large ring but not want to allow the chain to drop down on to the small ring (small ring is not very much worn so is not being replaced)

    It is shifting from the small ring to the middle that might be less smooth (ramps and pins missing) but it should still work OK - you might not notice much difference.
