edit:

sorry ive been really stupid, given no details about my riding and etc.

basically im an AM rider, looking to take some weight off my bike, but the frame needs 130 to 150mm travel, getting thru axle wheels in the near future.

XX is supposed to be the absolute top of the range, get it while it's cheaper.

  • I would go with the XX.

What's the actual difference? The XX says it has "XX motion control" whatever that is while the Team has the brilliant blackbox... Nobody seems to know which is actually better, some say that the XX is just old motion control but with the upgraded rebound circuit... Oh, and XX sticks you with the hydraulic remote, which I'm sure is ace if you want one but do you?

I thought XX was black box? Either way, the XX is cheaper and supposedly better... It's going to be a good fork regardless.

I've got the Teams and they're awesome forks. The XX's are the range topping version with hydraulic lockout. I doubt there's any noticeable performance advantage over the teams, but since they're cheaper you may as well get them.

XX MoCo has a hydraulic lockout, whilst MoCo/Black Box MoCo has a cable operated. The World Cup XX is the top of the line fork, the one with a carbon crown/steerer.

If you use your lockout a lot the XX is nice, if you don't then it weighs a bit more and I wouldn't bother.

Save yourself £40 and get the XX.
Even if the Team is better, I doubt that you'll notice any difference.

you are getting your 2010/2011 lines muddled. the OP's XX fork is not carbon, its the 2010 XX with standard alu steerer.
2011 XX world cup is carbon crown and steerer and from £839-£989 dependent on damper - black box or XX

I'd prefer the second fork that was posted.

It has low speed compression adjustment, whilst the XX doesn't. Low speed is very handy for isolating pedal bob whilst keeping the fork active.

Or save youself some money and get some 2nd hand revs. Probably £250 for a good example, and then spend £60ish and a couple of hours work on new oil and seals (DIY Service), and bang, for just over £300, you have a fork that will feel just as good as a brand new fork.
  • Yep revs will be going for decent prices second hand. I am tempted to flog my 2010 revs for some 2011 xx world cups.

I still reckon RS's range is infuriatingly hard to decipher. I mean, there's an entire thread devoted to it!

Even Sonic hasn't turned up to explain it!

I thought that the XX has low speed compression like the Team.
But after looking at Sram's website I was thinking wrong.

I've changed my opinion, take the Team.
    Having more adjustments never hurts.

Yeah, I think I will start a thread on RS 2011!

I have not seen a Rev XX, and unsure wheter the Hydrolock XX system allows adjustment of the compression damping.

Having just looked it up, it seems not! What a stupid idea!
