Hi,
I've found a list of clubs in the area form the british cycling website but can anyone recommend any particular one to join, or avoid?

Sotonia looks like a pretty big one but big doesn't always mean better, although it's big as people are happy to stay there I guess!

Thanks

Rich

If it wasn't for the fact that that I no longer have a car and my ride to their start point and back would equal the club run I was going to do with them, I would probably join Sotania

I joined Sotonia some 5 weeks or so ago, done four club runs, enjoyed every one. Choice of distance and speed ranging from 40 miles upwards, often 6 groups so bags of choice. Made to feel welcome, complete range of age groups with both men and women.

You do not have to join, come along to the start of the club runs and try before you buy! Their website gives loads of info including the destinations of the various club runs.

Thanks guys. I'll give them a call and see what they're upto in the next couple of weeks then try and pop down for a club run. They certain seem well organisaed form the vast number of things they seem to do on their website, and they're also probably the closest to me, so if they come recommended on here as well I'll defintely give them a go.

Wave to me as you pass Chilworth - I am still in training, trying to become fast enough to join a club.

I might see you next year after I have spent the winter improving my speed.

join a club and get out on some winter runs - your speed will improve dramatically. I never understand it when people ask questions like "am I fast enough to join a club?" - just friggin' join.......

I know what you mean, but I know I am too slow at the moment ( only averaging 12 mph on my own). I have only just returned to cycling after a long break and a knee replacement I would be more comfortable getting my speed up a little bit first but i WILL join later in the year 8)
